The search for the gunmen who opened fire at a child’s birthday party in Stockton, leaving four dead and several injured, remains ongoing. Three of the victims were children, and one was an adult.

The incident occurred on the evening of Nov. 29, 2025, at a banquet hall on Lucile Avenue, an area where authorities had previously reported illegal activity just weeks before the shooting. San Joaquin County Sheriff Patrick Withrow reported that investigators found more than 50 shell casings at the scene, indicating that multiple shooters and a variety of firearms were involved. At this time, the authorities have revealed that suspects were dressed in all black with covered faces.Authorities said the shooting may be gang-related but emphasized that no motive has been confirmed.

Officials have identified four victims who died from their injuries: Two 8-year-old girls, a 14-year-old boy, and a 21-year-old man.

Dozens of attendees were present when gunfire erupted, with 13 people reported injured. Several victims were listed in critical condition, according to law enforcement and local Bay Area news outlets.

As of December 13, 2025, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly identified. Sheriff Withrow told reporters that the investigation remains active, but it could take weeks or months before investigators make progress. The sheriff’s department referred to the task of processing evidence and piecing together the timeline of the attack as complex, and time-consuming.

Witnesses reported that the attackers were dressed in dark clothing and had face coverings, but officials have not confirmed a motive. While the surrounding community has had speculations about gang involvement, citing the presence of individuals with suspected gang ties at the party, authorities have said that the motives remain under investigation. It is too early to confirm a definitive link to a gang organization. Reward funds totaling more than $100,000 have been offered for information that could lead to arrests.

Residents and supporting groups have called for increased resources to address gun violence, and support affected families. Some communities have criticized what they describe as inadequate violence protection in places where it is most prominent–including parts of the Bay Area. As Stockton tries to recover from this event, officials and residents continue to search for answers while honoring the memory of the lives lost.
