The Seattle Seahawks are Super Bowl champions for the second time after defeating the New England Patriots 29-13 in a dominant defensive performance at Levi’s Stadium on Feb. 8, 2026.
“We never waver, man,” Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald said. “We believe in each other. We love each other, and now we’re world champions.”
In the fourth quarter, with the Seahawks leading 22-7, Seattle edge rusher Uchenna Nwosu stripped the ball from Patriots quarterback Drake Maye on a blitz and returned the fumble for a 45-yard touchdown. The play ended New England’s hopes for a comeback as it pushed Seattle’s lead to 29-7, essentially securing the championship.
Toward the end of the third quarter, Seahawks outside linebacker Derrick Hall sacked Maye, pushing his total sack count for the game to six and his total playoff sacks to 21. This broke the previous record for most sacks in a postseason, which was 19. Shortly after, Seattle quarterback Sam Darnold connected with tight end AJ Barner for a 16-yard touchdown early in the fourth quarter.
“To do this with this team, I wouldn’t want it any other way,” Darnold said after the game. “So proud of our guys, our defense. I can’t say enough great things about our defense and our special teams.”
Kicker Jason Myers was the true star of the game, scoring 17 of Seattle’s 29 points. He made five field goals — a new Super Bowl record — and two extra points. The performance gave him the most points scored by a kicker in a Super Bowl.
Those field goals gave the Seahawks a 12-0 lead at halftime and maintained steady pressure that kept the Patriots offense on its heels, even as the defense prevented Seattle from reaching the end zone.
Though Myers had the most points, the MVP award went to Seattle running back Kenneth Walker III, who finished with 135 rushing yards on 27 carries and added 26 receiving yards. He became only the eighth running back to win the award and the first since Terrell Davis of the Denver Broncos in 1998.
“If I would tell myself as a kid right now, I wouldn’t have guessed I would have been the one to win MVP,” Walker said. “It’s a surreal moment, and it doesn’t happen without the guys in the locker room.”
